This collection of Dawn Patrol missions is categorized by the number of players
recommended for that scenario. Each mission has been researched and adapted to the game, with the date of the actual incident,
the participants and the outcome detailed to the greatest extent possible. Unless otherwise noted, every mission on this
page is a historically accurate adaptation of an actual event.
These missions are not only enjoyable to play, many
of them are very readable as short stories and interesting historical anecdotes. Many include automatic criteria for medals
or special awards. Some missions are listed in several categories, meaning that the scenario can be
adapted to accomodate different numbers of players. Game factors have been slightly manipulated to help balance the
scenario, but since these missions are based on historical events they will not be perfectly balanced in the sense of a tournament
or standard 2 versus 2 game. History was rarely so accomodating.
There are a few fictitious missions listed here as well,
but they are clearly designated as non-historical scenarios. Again, every mission on this page is a game adaptation of an
actual historical event unless otherwise designated.
While
random missions are acceptable and enjoyable, historical set up games are also specifically endorsed in the official
Dawn Patrol seventh edition rule book under the GAME SCENARIOS section, which says "Dawn Patrol players can create an unlimited
number of situations using the Random Combat advanced rules or by devising their own scenarios. The following scenarios are
for players who want a ready-made situation, but they are also good examples of how to set up your own game." The rule book
then details 13 different officially sanctioned set up games, with instructions to use them as examples to create your own.
If you have a historic mission that you would like to submit,
please go to the "Contact Us" page and send it to us for inclusion. The author and his local squadron will be credited for
creating the scenario and submitting it for use on this page. Enjoy!
