NEW DESIGN FOR VICTORY MEDAL
Saturday's Winner to Receive First of Six Medal Series

Well, your faithful editor picked up our new Victory Medal(s) from the Greenwood Trophy Center yesterday and I must say I'm more than pleased with them. Those of you who have been around for a while (or won one of your own) already know that our Victory Medal, given to the Indy champion each year, is a gold medallion on a red ribbon. Trouble is, we've had all sorts of different designs on the medal itself with no consistency.

To save money and standardize the medal, the trophy shop offered to order all of our medals in advance for the next six years, through 2007. A few years ago I would never have done this since it was all on pretty much a year to year basis. But now that this is our 13th annual championship, I figured maybe it was the best thing to do and the event is pretty secure.

So here is the new design, already minted (HA!) and etched for the future winners of our upcoming championships, beginning this weekend. It features the American bald eagle on a gold medal and I thought it was really nice. See whatcha think. I spent about $43 on it all, which overruns our budget just a bit for this year, but then we don't have to buy any more for the forseeable future now either.

Enjoy, and come out Saturday for the championship! It starts at 10am this Saturday, Nov 17th, at the Lee's Inn and Suites at I-65 and Main St in Greenwood, IN. Bring a liter of drink, some chips and plenty of mission logs. Confirmed to date are Scott J., Barton, Kevin, Graham, Dory, most likely Stephen, Stephen Dale and Kevin's brother Cody, and several others. See ya Saturday, and be sure to check out these pics of the latest way cool victory medal design.

WEB SITE NEWS

Well, I hoped it would never come to this, but it appears as if our only option is to start a brand new web site from scratch for the Indy Squadron. Its been two years since we've been able to post anything on the current site, and I have to see all the work put into it just go down the toilet. But by the same token, we've purchased the name "indysquadron.com" for two straight years and written dozens of articles that never made it to print, so we've sort of reached a point of no return.

Since the current site is light years better than anything I can envision us putting together, maybe we can just consider this a stop gap measure until some happy day when the current site is usable again. But in the meantime, we really need some means of squadron communications and a central distribution point for suggestions, postings, rules, and of course the latest issue of ISD.

So here's my suggestion: how 'bout someone around here help us figure out what is necessary to start one of those el cheapo freebie sites, and try to do the best we can with it. I have no ideer what the best free site is and how much room we can get on it... and of course, we want to revive the forum as well, which may turn into a real chore. But let's see what we can conjure up... help me out here with suggestions, guys. Thanks!
